Resolved Question: Will a C letter grade affect my chances to be admitted to the top universities in my state?

I'm a freshman in a community college, fresh out of high school. I took a summer course (Psych 1), and unfortunately got a C on it. That was also the first college class I've ever taken. I can't take a class over again unless it's Ds or Fs. So that C is stuck on my transcript. If I don't slack from now on and earn As and some Bs; let's be realistic, getting straight As in college isn't really realistic, is it? Will I get into the top universities in my state? I live in CA, so I'm talking about UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, and UC San Diego, the UC schools. The Cal States are extremely easy to get in, they accept everyone. But the top UCs is a different story. Also, what's some advice for me to get good grades in college? Are Bs considered good grades?
