Resolved Question: Questions about University of California?

I want to go to University of California (I live in CA). I'm trying to aim for Berkeley but UC Irvine, Davis, L.A. and San Diego are okay too. I'm going to be a freshmen next year (9th grade) I got put into two art classes! I wanted to take Chinese but it was full. I was thinking that I should work on Chinese outside of school and then next year, skip to Chinese 3 which is the highest they have at my school. I heard that in order to get into UC of California, I need 2 years of the same language. What if I only take Chinese 3? Does that count as 2 years of foreign language?
